An excellent ‘can do’ attitude prevails at Thornham, which no doubt comes from Jeanette at the top.

The staff are always cheerful and friendly, and mostly the charges are very competitive, with the possible exception of the electricity.

All the services are carried out with caring competence, but in slight criticism, there is a tendency to underestimate the competence and experience of the boat owners. Maybe this is born of some bad experiences! Nevertheless, when help is required, it is nearly always there at the right time.

I wonder if it would be worthwhile to ask customers to volunteer a brief history of their sailing and boat owning experience, in order to avoid teaching grandparents to such eggs ?

The equipment used to handle the boats is first class, especially the Sub-Lift, which puts as little strain on the hulls as is possible. The updating of equipment and facilities such as the new pontoons seems to progress steadily, so no aspect of the service falls behind.

I am particularly impressed by the offer of a mid-season power wash at no extra charge, with the bonus of a 24 hour stay in the pool, which can be very convenient when worked in with a few days sailing. Long may it continue!

I hope this reads as a balanced review, rather than just uncritical praise, and I am delighted to post it.
